The Proposal

Rich and I had admittedly been talking about marriage for a few months before he proposed. We'd looked at a few engagement ring websites and talked about what sort of ceremony would make us both happy. However, I wasn't expecting it on the day he proposed.

It was the Monday of New Year's weekend -- January 3rd, 2005. We'd just had dinner and were doing our own things. I was reading various websites and he was playing a game on his new Playstation 2. Like any evening when we do this, we were chatting back and forth every so often. At one point, Rich started getting a bit antsy, and I sat down on the sofa beside him.

For a few minutes, he told me about how happy he was to have found me and how much things in his life have changed for the better since I came along. He took my hand and squeezed it, and told me he loved me, and asked me to marry him. Now, I wasn't expecting a proposal, and somehow thought that this wasn't the 'real deal' -- I thought he was talking about our future together. So my answer was 'well of course I'll marry you someday...'. His reply was, 'No sweetie, I'm serious'. I started crying and laughing all at the same time and said 'Of course I will marry you'. Naturally, my original response has become a running joke between us. Har Har.

A picture of my engagement ring can be found in our 'Photo Album' section.
